Hi everyone,

I am Martyn WARD and I'm researching my own family line.  Unfortunately I have very little information about my father's side of the family and cannot go back any further than my paternal grandfather.  Maybe someone out there is researching the same family?

My grandfather was Arthur Ward who was born in the late 1880's and married Blanche Buxton.  I believe both of them were local Rotherham people.  Arthur spent some time in Canada and returned to England with the Canadian Forces during the 1st World War when he was injured in the leg by a bullet and met Blanche, who was an ancilliary nurse, whilst in hospital in Sheffield (Nether Edge I think) recovering from his injuries.

They had 7 children: Beatrice, Lena, Sylvia, Cyril Arthur (My father), Harry, Roy and Pauline.  Only Harry and Pauline survive.

Arthur died in November 1950 and is buried in a cemetary at the side of Kimberworth School, I think its called Masborough Cemetary.

If anyone has any information about Arthur, Blanche, their ancestors, or the family in general I would love to hear from them

Trying to find my Grandfathers family. He was JAMES ALFRED WARD born about 1885, possibly Birmingham, married my Grandmother EMILY PHILLIPS also from Birmingham in around 1912. All that my late Father could tell me is that the Wards originally came over from Ballygriffin, Parish of Glanarought, Co. Kerry Ireland and settled in Lichfield. MY Grandfather may have had a Sister called Ada, who had a daughter called Winnie, married name unknown. MY original Ancestor from Ireland was a Blacksmith, may have come over to England in the l850's. MY Grandparents latterly resided in Halesowen, MIdlands, and my Grandfather died in the early 1940's aged 60, date unknown, buried Halesowen Churchyard. Would like to hear from anyone who may have a connection to my Ward Ancestors.

Yours, Grace Carrick. (Scotland) grace.carrick"at"btopenworld.com 8/12/2003
